Remember this recipes book I ordered? Yesterday it was my firts attempt in the magical world of desserts (given the name of my blog that's ironic, I know). I tried with the page 265, a good-looking cake known as DEATH BY CHOCOLATE. It was really death, not only making it -I spent half an hour trying to make the eggs with the sugar grow- but also eating it. It was deathly tasty! In fact, if you don't like chocolate don't even try it, cause it's pure cocoa, and even if you like it, I recommend not to eat a big piece unless you want to feel your arteries obstructing.
Anyway, I encourage you to print the recipe -you can find a photo below, I'm too lazy to copy- and bake it. Hope the result looks more or less like mine.

Gingers are sexy (more often than not)
Yes, I am a fake ginger but this is just the reflection of the hair I should have born with. If someday I'm single again (something I don't want to, to be honest, I'm happily married) I just have two wishes: fuck a ginger and fuck an African-American. Well, if I also can have a relationship with them it's ok. LOL. To be honest, I saw last year the conjuction of these two things and I came to an agreement with myself: ginger black guy: not working.
The thing is I'm really obsessed with gingers, a passion I share with my friend Lou (she really likes those guys who have red beard). So after being blonde, black hair, and several more colours you don't want to know, one day I tried orange AND I LOVED IT. So here I am, ginger and proud. I leave here a list of ginger celebs just to know your opinion about them and if you have some other suggestion, please, tell me, it's always good to meet hot gingers. Meanwhile, join this page on facebook I created.

Yes, I'm a Fan and I'm Proud!
Oh, Lord (not Voldemort), how am I going to wait 8 more months?!?
This afternoon I went to the movies to see "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I" in English, which is quite difficult considering I live in Spain, a country where everything is dubbed -at least, that's changing. But that's another story. My point today is to vindicate that we Harry Potter fans deserve some respect. YES, I LOVE HARRY POTTER AND I'M PROUD! I've read all the books at least twice, both in English and Spanish, I have all the DVDs, I have almost every book that has been published about Rowling's universe...and yes, I feel excited when I hear something about it. So you can imagine how nervous I was today, well, and the last two days, cause for the very first time I didn't watch the movie the first day it was released. But it was worthy. I don't want to spoil it but I feel the need to share my fascination about two particular scenes. First, and keep in mind is not a real thing, it's just Ron's imagination, Harry and Hermione kissing NAKED. Why the face???? Then, one of the movie quotes that should be part of film history. When hermione is trying to read the story of The Three Brothers:
Hermione: It happened at twilight...

Ron: Midnight, my mom used to say midnight. Well, twilight is cool, it's even better.
Thank you, scriptwriter, for that moment!
So that's my enthusiastic review of the movie. One last thing though, if you can't wait to know the ending, wait till the second part is released. Hope you like it too!

Who said that British cooking sucked?
No, I didn't! One of the things I miss the most from my last year in England (I was in Nottingham, in case I didn't mention it before) is the food. Some people would be astonished about this declaration, but I really miss jacked potatoes, fudge chocolate cake, fish and chips, pies... Yes, I know is nothing near healthy, but it's tasty! So, saturday night I went to my friend Andrea's birthday party and there she showed me a great book her boyfriend's grandma gave to her: The Great British Book of Baking. Once I oppened it I discovered a marvelous world of naan bread, crumpets, pies, pastries...and I started to drool like Homer Simpson.
Yesterday I was with my friends Bea and Lou making an order in Amazon.co.uk and Bea and me couldn't help buying one book for each. It was 10 pounds and for that price I think we deserve baking the taste of Britain.
By the way, I just received my previous order (check this post) and Tamara Drewe's book is simply great. I strongly recommend it.

Online Shopaholic
Amazon.co.uk should give me some gift for being such a good client. Well, Ryanair too, but they think 15 flights in less than one year are not enough...
I've just placed an order which could be the online equivalent of a real life afternoon when you come back home with thousands of bags. All began with my research about Tamara Drewe, Gemma Arterton's new movie. So I checked on amazon the comic book that inspired it. And added it to my basket. Then I found out she starred on 2008 a BBC miniseries based on Thomas Hardy's "Tess of the D'Urbervilles". And who was his male partenaire? Hot ginger Eddie Redmayne -who you may remember as Jack on "The Pillars of the Earth".
Then I saw as "recommendations" some other BBC series like "Pride and Prejudice" (check on my list -left- that I'm reading the book right now) but I remembered that some friend already has it, so for once I stopped myself...and instead decided to buy the movie with Keira Knightly and Matthew MacFayden -Prior Phillip on "The Pillars of the Earth", notice everything is connected. After that I went back to Gemma Arterton's profile on imdb.com, great tv and movies website, by the way, and saw that she was also on "The Boat that Rocked", a movie I've longed to watch for ages. So I added it to my basket. And as I didn't qualify for Free Super Saver Delivery, I bought a book I loved but gave to my Chinese friend; Langston Hughes's poetry (take a look at this blog). So, this was my shopping today, for 28 pounds, all included.

Wishin' and Hopin' (people change)
Has it ever happened to you that you discover something about something you used to like that suddenly changes your mind about that thing? Well, this is what happened to me about one particular song: 'Wishin' and Hopin'. This version is the one I knew, from the credits of the movie "My Best Friend's Wedding", but the best known was performed by Dusty Springfield, who was famous for singing "The Son of a Preacher Man". So let's take a look at the lyrics and find out what could possibly make me so angry.
Wishin', and hopin', and thinkin', and prayin',
Planning and dreamin' each night of his charms.
That won't get you into his arms
So if your're looking for love you can share
All you gotta to is hold him, and kiss him, and love him,
And show him that you care.
Show him that you care, just for him.
Do the things that he likes to do.
Wear your hair just for him, 'cause,
You won't get him, thinkin' and a prayin',
Wishin' and hopin'.
'Cause wishin', and hopin', and thinkin', and prayin',
Planning and dreamin' his kisses will start.
That won't get you into his heart!
So if you're thinking how great true love is
All you gotta to is hold him, and kiss him, and squeeze him, and love him.
Yeah, just do it!
And after you do, you will be his.
You gotta show him that you care just for him.
Do the things that he likes to do.
Wear your hair just for him, 'cause,
You won't get him, thinkin' and a prayin',
Wishin' and a hopin'.
'Cause wishin', and hopin', and thinkin', and prayin',
Planning and dreamin' his kisses will start.
That won't get you into his heart!
So if you're thinking how great true love is!
All you gotta to is hold him, and kiss him, and squeeze him, and love him.
Yeah, just do it!
And after you do, you will be his.

Argggg , I don't even know how to begin with! The two first paragraphs are romantic and...well..ok. But then the torture begins. "Do what he wants, wear your hair as he wants" and you'll get into TRUE LOVE. Please, fuckin' kill me! Thanks God the credits of the movie show a parody of the song. How could someone sing that seriously? And the word "squeeze"...is only me or does it sound really namby-pamby? And please, stop repeating on and on that YOU WILL BE HIS, like his is his car.
Sorry about this post, but I was angry and felt that people should "denounce" this, I mean, if you know about some other case like this, share it with the world (you can start with me). The thing is that I consider myself quite a conservative person but I just can't accept this kind of stuff, not even on the 1960s. Now, if you want to change that horrible taste I left in your mouth, and feel like laughing at marriage (or with it), click on the words under the photo. Hope you like it.

More to Say
Two posts in a day? Am I crazy? Well, yes, but that's not the point. I just regreted I mentioned my friend and his photos without showing a sample of it so here it goes, without his permission, but I guess he'll be glad. LOVE U, ALEX!
Huhuhuhu, that's me!
He mainly captures:
-Urban landscapes
-Beautiful or interesting people
-And gigs
And the Wall of my Room
Following the same pattern of the previous post, here I talk again about walls, but this a more tangible one. I introduce you, my dearest readers, to my bedroom and its photo gallery. All the photos were taken by me which sometimes makes me feel a bit shamefully proud. The drawings are my mom's present which was also a present some suitor gave to her. Below you have in detail my last acquisition, a cut out paper doll set with Grace Kelly starring. If you're interested visit their webpage. And if you liked the photos, I'm sure you'd love this man, Alex Abian, who learned with me but soon overpassed me. He's an artist but also makes some jobs, so in case you need good stuff -photos, no drugs, you perverts- contact him.
The mirror is something my grandma found on the street. It's clean and disinfected, I promise.
Ah...Grace, Grace...if only you wouldn't have let your daughter drive...

Bricks of the wall of my art
Well, I think today is time to show you some of my "art". Come on, I know it sounds pretentious, but if some people can call a shark in a box Art, why not my stuff? So here you can read a minimal poem with a photo, all by me. The model is Teresa.
She came from the country
and suddenly
found herself
diving in an ocean of bricks.

Postcards from Old Albion
Here I leave you some postcards my father kept from his first trip to London, at the end of the 70s. If you click on them you'll see better the quality and the colour, which I particularly like, and how different (and at the same time similar) to nowadays London it was. It coincides also with the arrival of a postcard from Russia. I feel forced to recommend this webpage to you in the case you also feel that instant happiness when you find something in your mailbox -not a bill, of course- and you still believe in old-fashioned post system above e-mails and e-shits. With this web you can send and receive postcards from all over the world. Again, I encourage you to join it.
Also, this is a good choice for today cause I know where I'm doing the internship of my Master degree on education and I'm really happy with it. Well, the thing is I love English, and kind of like teaching it, but I don't really like kids and teenagers, so when I found out that my internship was going to be in a school for whoever wants to go -mainly grown ups- it made my day. How perfect it would be teaching them literature and film...

"Atonement", Literary and Movie Review
Two days ago I finished my reading of Ian McEwan's novel -my beloved Bea lend it to me, eternal thanks- and just after that I felt the urge to watch the movie. In the film, Joe Wright -also responsible for "Pride and Prejudice", which I'm reading right now- adapts the novel in a magnificent way, translating whole pages into gazes and overseeing almost nothing. If one thing surprised me was that previously I hated Keira Knightly -soooooooooorry- and her duck-mouth but in this movie she's just marvelous. And what should I say about her clothes? Thanks, God, for giving us Jacqueline Durran, the costume designer! Below you can see some of my favourite fashion moments of the movie, though I don't include the green dress, don't know, but it's not my style.
Regarding Cecilia Tallis, Knightly's character, I found it much nicer in the book. The movie shows a rather cold woman, despite all the things she's gone through, and I preferred the literary Cee. However, the movie also has its strong points, like the presence of Vanessa Redgrave as the old Briony and the beautiful final scene with the white cliffs of southern England. Finally I just have to add that, in order to remove your disgust about poor Saoirse Ronan, the actress who plays child Briony, you should watch "The Lovely Bones". Do it and you tell me.
Cover of the paperback.
Please, let's go back to those swimming clothes!
My favourite clothes, at the very beginning (and before getting wet).
Great ginger: young Lola, Tallis sisters' cousin.
Tragic ending.
The white cliffs of Devon make me also think of the ending of "Quadrophenia".

Why shops should never close on bank holidays?
Because you can go out with some good friends and find amazing stuff like this clock-necklace. Since I first saw Mad Men I always wanted the pencil-necklace Joan Holloway wears occassionally. I searched on the web but only found it at www.etsy.com, a wonderful online shop, but it was too expensive. So today, when I found this beauty at Six Accessories, I was forced to buy it. Well, my friends pushing me was also determinant, and it was only 20 euros! Hope you also fall in love with it.
